Wow! What a year 2017 has been. A few things that were planned, and thoroughly enjoyed. And a few things that were not so planned, blew us out of the water and changed life for a while. I think I will look back on 2017 as the year that tested everything about what life is. Precious. Fun. Loving. Full of learning.
Five is a number that resonates well with me, so here are my top 5 memories/happenings for 2017…..
I attended the Artful Business Conference in May.
I finally made it to Artful. For 4 years I have been attending as a virtual attendee, and it has always been on my list as a must attend event. I had planned to go and booked tickets for 2016 but cancer happened and put a stop to that! This year I finally made it, attended live in person. It was such a special weekend. Finally meeting all the wonderful people I have become friends with online for so many years….seeing them in person was so magical. Can’t wait for the next one.
I successfully decluttered my home.
Well, most of it. There are still some areas that need a good tidy up, but the majority of my home feels so wonderful. Each room feels so light and clean, it’s amazing what a good clean out does for the mind and the soul. I myself feel so much better, free from all the clutter that was once holding me down. This will still be a work in progress, training the mind not to bring extra into the house. There is not much that is needed to live a comfortable healthy life.
I had to undergo another bowel surgery.
This was not ever going to feature in 2017. I will never forget the day I walked into my surgeon’s office and he told me the cancer was back. (Maybe I should write a whole blog post on this!). It was such a devastating time. But, in August, I underwent an open bowel surgery, and recovered fine. No more chemo. A long recovery but I’m glad to say while sitting here typing this I feel fantastic. (Although, I felt fantastic before too).
I got to meet some of my idols and have selfies with them.
As most people know who follow me, I love cooking, I love food, and I love some chefs. This year I got to meet Jax Hamilton, Simon Gault and Pete Evans. They were all quick encounters but they were all kind enough to offer there time for a quick selfie. I would love to spend some time in the kitchen with all of these wonderful people and many more…..lets see what can be accomplished in 2018.
My husband and I got to take the trip of a lifetime to the USA.
We planned our trip specifically to include a lot of things we wanted to cross off our lists. San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, New York, St Martins, Houston. Well, we got to New York, husband fell off a bike in Central Park, broke and dislocated his shoulder and collar bone, we made it to St Martins for 1 day before our insurance company advised we had to travel back to NZ for medical treatment. So, one day we will finish the trip and head back to St Martins and Houston.
I’m sure a lot more has happened in 2017, well I know it has, but those are my top five memories for the year. I wish everyone a very safe New Years Eve, have fun whatever you are doing, be safe and I will see you all again in 2018. I have so much planned, both work and fun, so stick around and see what happens.
Until next time…
